HOW TO PLAY REZARUS

  • Getting Started

Rezarus is a free futuristic tank PvP game with fast-paced arcade gameplay across four unique game modes. If you're a new Rezarus player, here's a complete getting started guide - from download to your first PvP match.

1. GAME DOWNLOAD

Rezarus is a free online competitive multiplayer futuristic tank battle game that may be downloaded on Steam. It is available for PC, but will also run on Linux through Proton. Be sure to check hardware requirements listed here before installing.

2. ACCOUNT CREATION

When you first launch the game, you can choose between two account types: Rez Account or Steam Account. Your account stores your stats and eventually, items. Accounts are created directly through the game client.

A Rez Account is a standalone username and password account with no third-party connection. To create one, enter your desired username and leave the password field blank. A password will be automatically generated and shown to you once on first login. It is strongly recommended to add and verify an email address so you can recover your account if needed, then change your password afterward.

A Steam Account signs in automatically through Steam for quick access. This option is only available when launching the game through Steam. Your Steam account can only be linked to one Rezarus account.

The first time you log in with a Steam Account, your username will be randomly generated (such as SteamNoob_xfdgsj). You can rename it using the popup shown after entering the lobby, or anytime later in the main lobby with the #rename command.

Both account types are free and offer the same features. Once online, you can play any mode, but new players are encouraged to start in the Practice Arena to learn the controls and gameplay.

3. GETTING INTO THE GAME

Entering An Arena

After logging in and setting your username, head to the Practice Arenas. Choose a color to join that team.

When you enter, the Loadout Screen will appear. Here you can select a tank and change modules. When you change tanks, its default configuration will preload. New players are advised to stick with the standard preset loadouts located near the bottom right of the loadout screen, until comfortable with the game's mechanics.

Once ready, enter the arena by pressing Escape or clicking Enter Arena in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Graphics Settings

Graphics settings — adjust overall quality, frame rate cap, DLSS, and FSR upscaling.

Once inside the arena, press Escape to open the settings menu. Here you can adjust graphics, keybindings, and other options.

For the best experience, aim for a capped 120 FPS, which matches the game's physics rate. Lower or raise the Overall Quality setting until performance is stable. You can monitor FPS by using the #fps command in chat, which toggles performance stats on and off.

For better performance, try these settings:

  • Set Overall Quality to Low or Medium
  • Turn Screen Space Reflections off
  • Enable DLSS or FSR upscaling if available
  • Lower Render Scale (especially helpful on handheld devices like the ASUS ROG Ally)

Mouse Settings

Once your graphics and performance settings are dialed in, review your mouse sensitivity as the default setting may be inappropriate for your specific mouse.

Mouse settings — enable aiming, adjust sensitivity, and bind mouse buttons.

If you do not plan to use a mouse for aiming, disable Aiming Enabled under the mouse options. Otherwise, adjust the sensitivity slider until aiming feels smooth and comfortable.

For gaming mice around 1600 DPI, 0.1 sensitivity is a solid starting point. You should be able to aim comfortably on both horizontal and vertical axes with minimal drift. For example, try aiming left and right while keeping your turret level. You should also feel comfortable making both slow and fast adjustments.

Keep in mind that turrets have a maximum rotation speed, so cursor movement is capped by how fast the turret can turn.

Once your mouse settings feel right, review your keybindings and other game options. Most players can start with the default settings and adjust over time.

Practice Against Bots

The bots in the Practice Arenas are very basic and are not intended for serious competition. Their purpose is to help you get comfortable with the controls.

A good place to start is with stationary bots so you can practice driving and aiming. Once you feel comfortable destroying stationary bots, move on to moving bots, which require you to track targets while moving and aiming.

Destroying bots adds tallies to your stat sheet and earns score toward rank progression. You are free to destroy as many Rez Net bots as you like. Kills, deaths, and score earned otherwise in Practice Arenas are not saved.

4. PvP Multiplayer — Finding Matches & Competitive Play

Now you're ready for PvP! Rezarus offers four competitive multiplayer game modes - Total Wars CTF, Laser Wars, Impulse Wars, and Phoenix Wars — each with unique weapons and gameplay. Since Rezarus is still in Early Access with a smaller community, check the weekly playtimes schedule to know the best days and times to join — organized sessions run Tuesday through Thursday evenings EST, with spontaneous matches forming outside those windows too.

Veteran players are always willing to help and go easy on newer players, so don't be afraid to ask. And don't worry about your stat sheet just yet — once the game leaves Early Access all stat sheets will reset and everyone will get a fresh start. We hope to see you online soon!
